Joe’s desire to understand the importance of connection between individuals, groups, and society as a whole began at an early age and developed while pursuing an Undergraduate degree in Sociology from West Chester University. Joe began his career in the field of behavioral healthcare working in a residential substance abuse facility as a clinical aide helping support adults through their treatment experience.He transitioned into admissions, where he gained strong assessment & crisis management tools to help clients gain treatment access.
Joe went on to obtain a Master of Social Work (MSW) from West Chester University with a strong emphasis in assessing the whole person from a holistic, empowerment, and strengths-based perspective. Since 2018, Joe has worked in IOP and General Outpatient treatment settings treating adolescents through adults (ages 13-70) with complex co-occurring substance abuse & mental health conditions. In 2019, he began training in experiential methods of psychotherapy (Psychodrama & Sociometry) that led to becoming an EMDR trained therapist. Joe’s dedication of helping individuals achieve deeper internal relief through the use of IFS-informed EMDR therapy has been the focus of his practice for the past several years. Joe works closely with his co-therapist, Cary, a 6 year old black pit bull/terrier mix, whose calm demeanor helps assist clients manage distressing emotions.
In addition to EMDR training, Joe has completed up to Step Two of IFS-informed EMDR training through the Syzygy Institute where he acts as a Program Guide by assisting in their IFS-informed EMDR training.
