IFS Therapist

Background

As a second career counselor, Johanan brings lived experience to his work. He completed his Masters in Counseling Psychology from Temple University, after a career as a research professor in Chemistry, fulfilling a lifelong desire to work directly with individuals to help them heal intrapersonally. After graduating, Johanan completed a six-month long program working with clients who identify as Adult Children of Emotionally Immature Parents. He has additional experience in a private practice setting working with clients to heal a variety of trauma symptoms and presentations. Johanan is Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy through the IFS Institute and continues to seek advanced training and consultation in IFS.

Through mindfulness and somatic exercises, Johanan helps adult individuals work towards relational change by facilitating trust within the inner system. In practice, this may look like helping individuals simply identify and access inner resources or actively working to relieve the system of burdensome beliefs that prevents the individuals from experiencing a sense of internal wholeness and harmony.

In addition to his clinical experience, Johanan has over 10 years of experience facilitating small groups in community and retreat settings.
