EMDR Intensives

EMDR Intensives in Paoli, PA — Serving Philadelphia and the Main Line

Accelerated Trauma Repair with Specialized EMDR Therapy

At The Willow Space for Trauma Treatment, we offer in-person EMDR intensives from our Paoli office, a short drive from Philadelphia and centered on the Main Line. If you're struggling with unresolved trauma, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm, our intensives may offer the deep healing and relief you're seeking.

What Are EMDR Intensives?

EMDR Intensives are extended therapy sessions—starting at 90 minutes and up to 4 hour sessions per day—designed to help clients achieve faster and more comprehensive trauma repair. Instead of the slower pace of weekly 50-minute sessions, intensives allow for deeper work over a shorter time frame, often leading to quicker symptom reduction and greater emotional clarity.

Sessions are offered on a weekly or monthly basis, depending on your goals and capacity. Many individuals find that EMDR Intensives allow them to move through stuck patterns more efficiently and regain a sense of safety and control in their lives.

Why Choose EMDR Intensives for Trauma Repair?

Our in-person EMDR intensives, serving clients throughout the Philadelphia area and Chester County, use the brain's natural healing processes to reprocess distressing memories, release emotional pain, and build resilience. When delivered in the intensive format, EMDR can:

  • Accelerate trauma recovery

  • Reduce emotional reactivity and distress

  • Help desensitize painful memories

  • Shift long-held negative beliefs

  • Support lasting change and integration

The immersive nature of EMDR Intensives allows more material to be processed more deeply during each session, maximizing therapeutic progress and minimizing the emotional interruptions that can occur in shorter therapy models. An EMDR Intensive model also allows for larger chunks of time to dedicate to the emotional reprocessing. When a client begins a traditional EMDR session (50 minutes), there is typically 10-15 minutes to check in, 25-30 minutes for EMDR work, and 10-15 minutes to wrap up and contain material from the session. With an EMDR intensive session, you are engaging in 10-15 minutes for a check in, 60+ minutes of EMDR work, and 10-15 minutes to wrap up and contain material from the session- double the amount of EMDR processing than a traditional 50 minute session. Think  of EMDR Intensives as doing two sessions back to back rather than waiting 7+ days in between sessions.

Is EMDR Intensive Therapy Right for You?

While incredibly effective, EMDR Intensives are emotionally demanding. We recommend that most clients continue working with a primary therapist for talk-therapy support and integration. For individuals new to EMDR or therapy in general, we begin with preparatory work to establish safety, build somatic awareness, and understand internal dynamics (such as "parts work").

Not all individual systems are ready for deep trauma processing right away—but we’ll work with you to assess readiness and provide the support you need along the way.
