Our Story

Like the Willow, You Were Built to Bend—Not Break

The Willow Space for Trauma Treatment is an experiential, trauma-focused therapy practice located in Paoli, Pennsylvania.

In 2022, The Willow Space for Trauma Treatment was founded by Erin and Joe—two EMDRIA certified EMDR clinicians with a shared vision and a bold question: What if therapy could do more than help people learn coping skills? What if it could help them reconnect to who they truly are—compassionate, confident, and connected?

Recognizing a critical gap in outpatient trauma care—particularly for individuals struggling with dissociation, complex PTSD, and attachment wounds—Erin and Joe set out to create something different. They envisioned a practice that went beyond traditional cognitive therapy, which often overlooks the deeper, somatic, and relational layers of trauma. Instead, The Willow Space was built around the belief that healing happens in relationship to others, to the body, and most importantly, to Self.

Rooted in advanced training in EMDR, Internal Family Systems (IFS), and attachment-based modalities, our practice is uniquely equipped to support clients with complex trauma. This is not surface-level symptom management. This is transformational work that honors the nervous system, the protective parts within, and the profound clarity of Self.

Why the Willow?

The willow tree has long been a symbol of healing, wisdom, and hope. Found near water, it instinctively seeks nourishment, stability, and light—just as you may be doing right now. Willows don’t resist their environment; they respond to it with quiet intelligence. That natural ability to adjust and rise again is what makes the willow a powerful metaphor for healing from trauma.

At The Willow Space for Trauma Treatment, we believe healing is not about erasing the past—it's about gently tending to the parts of you that carry it. Just like the willow tree, you already hold the capacity to grow, adapt, and thrive, even after life’s most difficult storms.

The willow’s strength isn’t in how rigid it stands—but in how gracefully it moves with the wind. It bends, it flexes, and still, it remains rooted. That’s resilience. And that’s what trauma work invites you to reclaim.

In our work together, we gently explore the parts of you that may feel stuck, scared, or overwhelmed. Through trauma-focused therapy—including EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS)—we help you reconnect to the compassionate, curious, and creative Self that’s been there all along.

A Safe Space to Reclaim Your Story

We know that trauma can leave you feeling like your roots have been pulled up, or that you're too tangled to sort out. But healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken—it’s about understanding and unburdening the parts of you that had to adapt in order to survive.

When you enter The Willow Space, you’re not just beginning therapy—you’re entering a relationship with your Self. One where you’ll:

  • Learn to honor your strength

  • Explore your inner world with curiosity and care

  • Reconnect with parts of you that have been silenced or exiled

  • Find creative new ways to move forward

  • Cultivate compassion for your story, your symptoms, and your survival

Growth Happens Here

Healing is not linear—but neither is growth. Like the willow, it happens quietly, sometimes imperceptibly, over time. And yet, with the right conditions—safety, support, and connection—it always happens.

You deserve a space where all your parts are welcome. Where every part of you has a seat at the table. Where your story is held with patience and your healing is not only possible—but inevitable.

Let us meet you where you are, and walk beside you as you return to who you’ve always been: calm, courageous, and confident.

This is your time. This is your place. Welcome to The Willow Space.
