Lori Basher

Lori Basher, MSS, LSW
EMDR Therapist
Background
Lori earned her Master of Social Work from Bryn Mawr College and then spent more than 20 years as an information technology professional. The two fields may seem worlds apart, but she found they draw on the same core skills: active listening, pattern recognition, reading complex systems, and approaching people with curiosity. Returning to the therapeutic space let her combine decades of professional problem-solving with a genuine desire to help others heal. Her previous clinical experience includes work with children, families, and survivors of trauma, including child sexual abuse and domestic violence.
Lori's approach is warm, curious, collaborative, and grounded in compassion. Perfectionism, exhaustion, and trouble asking for help often began as adaptive ways of coping with hard experiences previously. She helps you trace those patterns back to where they came from, building self-compassion along the way that makes true healing possible. She helps you to build the groundwork for relationships, and a life, that actually reflect who you are, not who your history trained you to be. While the content may be heavy, the work doesn’t always need to take place in a somber room. Lori brings humor into sessions, as healing tends to stick when there's room for connecting through laughter.
